Last stream (Day 76) was a bit rocky… I wanted to see how hard it was to get started from scratch. Installing the plugin and integrating it to the website was easy. The harder part was creating a lock, because I had never used Metamask before. The hardest part can be getting ETH, Matic, or xDai on your wallet. I’m still trying to figure out the best method.
But I’ve finally got Unlock Protocol up and running! Today we’re going to cover the basics of how to get started, and how to use create locks.
I figured out how to use a hardware wallet (Trezor or Ledger) on Metamask, but for most beginner’s you’ll probably want to start with using a web wallet on Metamask. The signup process only takes a minute.
I also test out the Coinbase wallet. It gave me a couple issues. Everyone in the community seems to use Metamask, so I’m going to stick with that for now.
On the stream I’m going to cover:
- How to create your Metamask web wallet
- How to store your Secret Passphrase
- Metamask Basics
- How to use your Metamask account to create a lock with Unlock Protocol
From there I’m going to just mess around with ways that I can integrate it more into Bonsai. One thing I’ve been wanting to play with is using the new plugin version which allows multiple locks on one single Unlock Block (WP Gutenberg Block). This way a piece of content should be accessible by multiple tiers.
I’m also curious as to whether I can put a Unlock Block in a post excerpt.
